About Versailles State Park:

Take a drive through the beautiful rolling hills of southeastern Indiana with Versailles State Park, Indiana s second-largest state park, as your destination.
This area has deep history rooted in both the Civil War and the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Versailles State Park dedicated a CCC commemorative statue in 2010.
Numerous fossils tell the story of an ancient sea that covered the region.
During the Civil War, Morgan s Raiders made their way through the area that is now the park.
The town of Versailles was briefly under Confederate control.

Relax while fishing on the 230-acre lake where you can rent a rowboat, kayak or canoe.

Salary Information:

This position starts at a minimum rate of $9.
50 per hour; however, pay may be commensurate with experience and the starting rate may vary for the position for which you apply.

About the Job:

In this role as a Seasonal Aquatics Worker, you will provide friendly customer service while ensuring the safety of guests participating in water activities.
You will assist park guests with park information and regulations, and this role may focus on customer service and operational aspects depending on assignment and requirements described below.
All property staff are responsible for contributing towards the safety operations and security of the property and guests.
To assist with the maintenance of a clean environment, basic cleaning duties may include sweeping, mopping, restocking and trash/litter pick-up.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Lifeguards and Beach Attendants monitor the activities of visitors at property pools or beaches.
    This role is expected to administer first aid and CPR when necessary and report accidents or issues to property management.
    Assistance may be requested for the maintenance and operations of pools or beach equipment.
  • Marina Attendants monitor the activities of visitors, operate and fuel watercraft for use at the marina.
    Attendants sell gasoline, oil, passes and permits to marina visitors.
    This role is expected to administer first aid and CPR when necessary and report accidents or issues to property management.
    Assistance may be requested for the maintenance and operations of watercraft.
  • Shuttle Boat Operators ferry passengers to and from personal boats moored on buoys on a small 16 boat with an outboard motor.
    Operators ensure safe, cautious and efficient rides for the safety of passengers and the care of boats.
    This role is expected to administer first aid and CPR when necessary and report accidents or issues to property management.
    Assistance may be requested for the maintenance and operations of boats or equipment.
  • Pool Directors are responsible for supervising lifeguarding staff through scheduling, training, and correction when appropriate.
    This role is expected to administer first aid and CPR when necessary and report accidents or issues to property management.
    Assistance may be requested for the maintenance and operations of pools or beach equipment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Completion of American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, American Red Cross Community CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required.
  • Physical training, including swimming and running, is a requirement of this position
  • Individual will be required to wear a DNR provided uniform (swimsuit and t-shirt).

What You'll Need for Success:

  • This role should expect to work afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Individuals may experience working in potentially inclement weather.
  • Individuals may experience working directly with offenders.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
